Clara Azurmendi and Bea Corrales, to the semifinals in Graz

The Spanish Clara Azurmendi and Beatriz Corrales qualified for the semifinals of the Austrian Badminton Open this Saturday after defeating India’s Malvika Bansod 2-1 and Austrian Katrin Neudolt 2-0, respectively.

Azurmendi, the first seed, beat Bansod in three sets, by 21-17, 15-21 and 21-19, while Corrales, the eighth favorite, followed the trend of his previous duels and won in 28 minutes by 21- 8 and 21-12. Both the Basque and the Madrilenian made their way to the quarterfinals this Saturday in the morning session after beating the Hungarian Vivien Sandhorhazi and the Swiss Jenjira Stadelmann in their respective matches.

The one from San Sebastián will be measured in the next round against the winner of the duel between the French Yaelle Hoyaux and the Slovenian Petra PolancWhile Bea Corrales will face the fourth-seeded Irina Amalie Andersen in the semifinals.
