Cincinnati, first tennis tournament with 100% public

The tournament, which is held in advance of the United States Open, is the first in the country to announce the lifting of public restrictions since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In accordance with the indications of the local authorities, we are looking forward to welcoming the fans again”, said the director of operations of the tournament, Katie Haas.

“The fans bring a lot of energy and excitement to our event, and we miss them very much last year,” he stressed.

The Cincinnati tournament returns to this city in the state of Ohio in August after it was transferred to New York in 2020 to reduce the travel of the players who competed in the United States Open, a Grand Slam tournament.

It will also be the first sporting event in the United States, since the beginning of the pandemic, with the maximum audience in its facilities.
