Chancellor promise: “Rapid will play before 30,000” – football

The stadiums will be full at the start of the new Bundesliga season. This is confirmed by Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in “Today”-Interview.

At the end of the season, fans were finally allowed to return to the Bundesliga stadiums. After more than a year of ghost games, 3000 Rapid fans were able to watch the 3-0 win against LASK live in the Allianz Stadium in the last round of the championship round. Austria was whipped by 3000 supporters to a 3-0 first-leg win on Thursday in the first leg of the European Cup play-off against Wolfsberg.

Soon there will be more.

Kurz promises full stadiums

On Friday, the government announced further opening steps. Back to normal – also in football? Yes, assured Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) in the “Today” interview. Can Rapid play in front of almost 30,000 fans again at the beginning of the new season (mid-July)?

Kurz states: “Yes, I am convinced of that. It will be possible. With the 3G rule, of course. So you have to be tested, recovered or vaccinated.”

Postscript: “But everything that is fun – regardless of whether it is the big football match from Rapid or other teams, whether it is for culture enthusiasts like at the Salzburg Festival, the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Styria – all that will be able to take place. Thank God. “

EURO at the host

This also applies to the upcoming European Football Championship. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) spoke on Friday after the opening summit of an imminent “summer like back then”, the EURO will be “normally watched at your favorite host”.

Will Kurz also follow the Austrian Games in company? “It depends a little on my workload. But if I have the time, I will of course try to watch the games too.”

Kurz is pleased that “only minimal restrictions” will be necessary from July 1st. “For many this will be completely unproblematic. If you are vaccinated, you can go in anywhere. If you don’t want to be vaccinated, you have to be tested every now and then in order to have access. We can all live well with that for a while . And as soon as the pandemic is defeated, things will look very different, “promises Kurz.

The opening steps

From June 10th, guest groups of up to 8 adults can meet indoors and up to 16 adults outdoors. In addition, the safety distance shrinks from two to one meter. The curfew falls at midnight and gastro employees are obliged to use 3G.

So there is little in the way of watching football together. The 3G rule says: vaccinated, tested or recovered. At least one of these requirements must be met in order to have access to the gastro. This is to avoid contagion.

For culture and events with assigned seats, 3,000 people will be allowed outside and 1,500 people inside. Organizers may allocate a maximum of 75 percent of the available seats.

As of July 1, the 3G obligation will remain in effect and the test obligation will become active from 12 years of age, but the protective mask will only apply where the 3G rules are not applied – for example in supermarkets and public transport. There will then no longer be any restrictions on gastronomy, and night gastronomy will also be possible again “in the course of the summer”. Events are then no longer subject to any restrictions in terms of gastronomy, there is an obligation to notify from 100 people, and an authorization from 500 people.

Austria joins the EURO on June 13th with the opening match against North Macedonia. This is followed by group matches against the Netherlands (June 17) and Ukraine (June 21).
