Italian Damiano Caruso (Bahrain-Victorious) won the 20th stage of the Giro 2021, Saturday May 29, between Verbania and Alpe Motta (164 kilometers). The climber took 24 seconds from second on the stage, Egan Bernal (Ineos). But the Colombian, although jostled, did not crack. He retains the lead in the general classification with a 1’59 lead over Damiano Caruso before the 21st and final stage on Sunday, a 30-kilometer time trial between Senago and Milan. If he does not fail, Egan Bernal will win the Tour of Italy for the first time in his career, two years after the Tour de France.
