Blind at Orange almost above Jan: ‘We have pushed the boundaries’

“I am not yet at the full hundred percent, but I am close. I have been able to do almost everything with it. It is now about those last few percent,” Daley Blind gives an update on his physical condition.

The 31-year-old defender of the Orange tore his ankle ligaments in the World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar at the end of March, and his chances of making it to the European Championship seemed almost lost.

“From the beginning it has been said: there should be nothing wrong with reaching this tournament. We have pushed the boundaries, set the bar high. And so far everything has gone well.”

Especially the mental aspect was difficult for Blind. “But on the other hand, I think you should also try to put it into perspective. Compared to my previous rehabilitation, this may have been easier,” he referred to his heart problems.
