Belgium begins its Olympic basketball qualifying tournament with two wins

Belgium kicked off their 3×3 Olympic basketball qualifying tournament with two wins on Thursday in Graz, Austria. The Belgian team, made up of Nick Celis, Thierry Marien, Thibaut Vervoort and Rafael Bogaerts, won 22-14 against South Korea and 19-13 against Kazakhstan.

With its two victories, Belgium occupies second place in group B behind the United States, seeded N.2. Lithuania is in third place ahead of South Korea and Kazakhstan.

Belgium will play its last two games on Saturday against Lithuania (12:15 p.m.) and the United States (3:35 p.m.)

The first two in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The two finalists and the winner of the third place match will advance to the Tokyo Olympic Games where 3×3 will make its debut as an Olympic discipline.

A second chance to qualify will come at another TQO, the FIBA ​​3×3 Universal, held in Debrecen (Hungary) from June 4-6. There, the winner will get the last qualifying ticket.
