Eight of the strongest national baseball teams in the Americas are ready to descend on two Florida diamonds, St Lucie’s Clover Park and the Palm Beach Ballpark, in search of the last pass to take off to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic tournament.
Baseball: the mini tournament
Only one place that will be assigned at the end of a mini tournament, the Baseball Americas Qualifier, scheduled in the US state from tomorrow, Monday 31 May, to Saturday 5 June and which will be possible to follow live on Sky Sport and streamed on NOW.
Two groups are scheduled, Group A with the United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, Group B with Cuba, Canada, Colombia and Venezuela.
Each team will play three matches in the first phase, called Opening Round, and the first two classified will participate in the second phase, the Super Round, starting from the points obtained in the previous phase. Also in this case it is a Round Robin, at the end of which the first in the standings will get the place at the next Japanese Olympic Games. For the second and third classified there will then be the opportunity to play the final Olympic qualifying tournament to earn the last pass.
Between May 31 and June 3, 6 matches scheduled on Sky Sport, 2 per day, all live, valid for the Opening Round; between 4 and 5 June, four more live matches, for the Super Round, also in this case two a day, for a total of 10 matches on the air.
