Baseball ducks split against arch-rivals

Diving Ducks pitcher Alexander Kienberger is the shooting star of the previous round. “He’s now one of the best in the league,” says Ducks coach Luis Carmago. But the youngster recently returned to the club with an injury from the national team course and had to give up for the game against the Viennese. The Diving Ducks match plan had to be completely turned inside out and did not work: The Viennese clearly sat 17: 7. One inning was decisive, in which the Wanderers scored nine points.

Ducks turn the game after 0: 6

On Saturday there was the return match and the better end for the Diving Ducks. Ducks thrower Rick van Dijck fought with his hand trembling in the first inning and had to allow six points from the guests. Ferdinand Obed and Moritz Scheicher then threw the ball over the fence, providing the ducks with the first highlights. The score was 3: 6 after the first inning. After that, the match turned out to be varied, but at eye level. The Ducks had more hits and with two more home runs by Oded and Scheicher, the game finally tipped over to the side of the Ducks, who left the field as 18:11 winners.

Chicks: Clear victory and thriller

The Chicklets, the Wiener Neustädter softball team, celebrated two victories against the Witches from Linz. The Upper Austrians found no concept against Chicklets starter Emma Hanika during the entire first game. The Chicks safely won 8: 1. The second meeting was more competitive. The Linz women went 2-0 in the front with two runs in the first two innings. Ina Kaindl shortened before the Wiener Neustädterinnen took the lead in the sixth period of the game. The Linz women then forced extra time with an inside-the-park home run and took the lead there too. The chicks turned the game around again thanks to a walk-off double from Paula Leinweber, ultimately winning 5: 4.

Ducks call for hall and light

In addition to the sporting events, the Diving Ducks invited people to Reload24 for a press brunch on Saturday morning, where they provided information about the current situation of the club – 32 club members are in the various red-white-red national teams – and future projects. In September, the “International Baseball Week” will take place at Ducksfield in the run-up to the A-Pool European Championships. Germany will be among the guests. In addition, the Ducks want to implement infrastructural projects in cooperation with the city. Keyword: a baseball hall for the winter and a floodlight for the small field.
