The former coach of the U-23 La Vecchia Signora team has just officially released his club. Juventus parted ways with Andrea Pirlo, who this season presented the Turin club with the Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia trophies.
“Thank you, Andrea. These are the first words we all want to say at the end of this special experience,” said a Juventus statement on its official website.
It is highly likely that Andrea Pirlo’s position at Juventus will now be occupied by Massimiliano Allegri, who once handled the Bianconeri. Allegri has reportedly signed a contract and will be officially announced by Juve in the near future.
Meanwhile, Pirlo himself, referring to a number of reports in Italy, will soon open a new chapter in his coaching career. He has been approached by Sassuolo.
It was reported that the news agencies ANSA and Sportitalia, Sassuolo are eyeing Andrea Pirlo to fill the position of Roberto De Zerbi who has resigned to become coach of Shakhtar Donetsk in May. Sassuolo also admitted that he had indeed glanced at Pirlo.
“Choosing a young coach is not easy,” Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali told the Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper as quoted by Football Italia.
“Pirlo is a talented young coach, but we are also evaluating other options. I think we will make a decision in the next few days.”
Calciomercato.com claims Sassuolo offered a two-year contract for Andrea Pirlo.
