To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Italian Basketball Federation, the “greats” of basketball met last Saturday in the main hall of the University of Messina to receive recognition from the national president Gianni Petrucci and from the national commissioner of the Sicilian FIP Cristina Correnti. Among the winners also Aurelio Armatore (73 years old, Isef graduate, graduated in Modern Literature), an all-round sportsman who began with athletics in high school but who immediately approached basketball, practicing for years as a player, and then as a manager, at the same time obtaining the “license” of swimming instructor, for which for almost 60 years, Shipowner has been a member of Coni.
Approaching basketball, he immediately distinguished himself in the youth championships in the ranks of Libertas Giammei. Still very young he founded Robur and was a protagonist for many years in the promotion championship, Serie D, poule B, series C / 1: he then wore the jersey of Mosaici Piazza Armerina and Nissa Basket. He has played in various national university championships and is currently part of the over 70 national basketball team.
