24 countries, 24 Euro Stars: Zinchenko, from the horror of war to the glitter of City

Perseverance and abnegation, these are certainly the two qualifiers that best describe the young Oleskandr Zinchenko (24 years old). A real nugget of Ukrainian football, nothing has been spared to the one who is making Manchester City’s heyday today. Unofficial double of our national Kevin De Bruyne – “from a distance, maybe we look alike but when we’re together, I can’t find it. I’m more handsome than him anyway” -, the left side has had to overcome many trials to reach the firmament and have the opportunity to let his talent explode in the eyes of the world.

Born in Radomychl on December 15, 1996, Oleskandr Zinchenko trained in the country, at the Shaktar Donetsk academy, where he shines particularly in youth teams. But while a golden destiny stretched out its arms to him, the vagaries of life decided otherwise. The Donbass War, this armed conflict in Ukraine, broke out in 2014, and the young man’s life was completely turned upside down, making him a collateral victim of this conflict.
