Mara Mote’s “Wildcats” painful loss in the NCAA final

With the third number in the final of the Wildcats sown in their region, 53:54 (8:16, 16:15, 16:12, 13:11) gave way to Stanford University’s Cardinal, which was posted with the first number.

Playing Wildcats with eight basketball players, Mote didn’t play on the field.

The Arizona team with 22 points was Ari McDonald’s, but Cardinal’s victory with 17 points and eight rebounds was forged by Haile Jones. Cameron Brink and Lexie Hula scored ten more points, who also had ten balls under the baskets.

The Cardinal team won the NCAA title for the first time since 1992.

Stanford’s team had already scored a nine-point lead in the final quarter, but Mote’s university was able to reach 50:51 thanks to McDonald’s long shot. 6.1 seconds before the end of the game, the winning throw was given to McDonald, but the ball hit the hoop, celebrating the victory with the Cardinal.

This has not been an easy season for the Cardinal, as the team has spent a total of 86 days in hotels in quarantine due to Covid-19.

Winning coach Tara Vandervir celebrated her 1099th victory in the NCAA Championship on Sunday, becoming the most successful coach in college women’s basketball. The coach has won the NCAA Championship three times during his career.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament was played in San Antonio.

The two teams had met each other twice during the season, both of them winning the Cardinal by more than ten points.

It has already been reported that in the regional final, the Wildcats defeated Alex Gulbe’s Bloomington University team Hoosiers, but in the second round of the elimination race, Digna Strautmane’s Syracuse University team Orange stopped.

The March Madness women’s team tournament with 64 teams this year is taking place in Texas. The final of the tournament is expected on April 4.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic last season, the NCAA champions were not identified.
