Instead of Dublin and Bilbao, the European Football Championship will take place in Seville and St Petersburg

The UEFA Executive Committee took the decision on Friday by videoconference, hearing the representatives of the cities.

It has already been reported that the city of Bilbao has lost the right to host this year’s European Championship finals in the region due to restrictions on Covid-19.

The four originally scheduled games in Bilbao have been moved to the Estadio La Cartuja Stadium in Seville. The organization of these matches is supported by the management of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, which has confirmed its intention to allow spectators to attend with three% of the stadium capacity in the three Group E matches and the quarterfinals.

The three Group E matches, originally scheduled for Dublin, will take place at St. Petersburg Stadium, where three Group B matches and the quarterfinals are due to take place.

Originally scheduled for the round of 16 in Dublin, the playoffs have been moved to Wembley Stadium in London.

The status of the host city was maintained by Munich, whose management approved all four games with at least 14,500 spectators.

“We have worked hard with the federations and local authorities of the host countries to ensure a safe environment and celebration at the Games, and I am really pleased to be able to host spectators in all matches to celebrate national football across the continent,” said UEFA President Alexander Cheferin.

UEFA commended the cities of Bilbao and Dublin, “both of which are considered good venues for future UEFA events”.

Following Friday’s decision, this year’s EC final will take place in Amsterdam, Baku, Budapest, Bucharest, Glasgow, Copenhagen, London, Munich, Rome, St. Petersburg and Seville.

The final tournament of the European Championship in 12 cities is scheduled for June 11 to July 11.
