Bud and Figueras defend in Girona that sport is “safe”

The Minister of the Presidency and Government spokesperson, Meritxell Budó, accompanied by the Secretary General of Sport, Gerard Figueras, paid a visit to the CN Banyoles and GEiEG facilities this afternoon (photo). Although so far this sector has been one of the main victims of measures to restrict the pandemic, both Budó and Figueras have defended that sport in Catalonia “is safe”. GEiEG and CN Banyoles have been two of the Catalan clubs that have participated in a pioneering program of mass screening among athletes and members that has revealed a very low impact. Depending on how covid-19 evolves, more flexibility measures can be taken.

Precisely today the Procicat has announced a very timid reopening of grassroots and amateur sports with the resumption of leagues that give access to state competitions. The gyms will also be able to return to activity from Monday, with 30% of the capacity, and the pavilions will be reopened, although with a maximum of six people per group and using the mask at all times. These measures have not yet convinced the sector, which claims to be equated with others such as culture.
