Félix Auger-Aliassime will have to wait once again before getting his hands on his first ATP title.

The Quebecer was not in the game in the seventh final of his career when he lost 6-2 and 6-3 to Daniel Evans who won the Murray River Open.

The Briton, who sits 33rd in the ATP standings, took advantage of the many unforced errors of his rival, who comes in at the 21st level.

Auger-Aliassime committed a total of 17 unforced errors in the first set only to concede her to the competition’s eighth seed in 31 minutes.

Evans was equally dominant in the second set as he quickly forged a two-breaker lead over the 20-year-old Quebecer.

As he served for the game at 5-2, Evans seemed nervous about getting his hands on his first ATP Tour title. He allowed Auger-Aliassime to pick up the score with a double fault which offered the breakage of service.

It was only a postponement for the 30-year-old athlete who pulled off a winning volley to close the books on the next game after 1 hour 17 minutes of play. The Quebecer ended the game with 32 unforced errors.

After this tournament, Auger-Aliassime will have to get back to work quickly, as he plays his Australian Open first round match on Sunday night. For the occasion, he is opposed to the German and 128th racket in the world Cedrik-Marcel Stebe.
