Ajax hires attacker Idrissi without an option to buy from Sevilla | NOW

Ajax completed the arrival of Oussama Idrissi on Monday evening. The former AZ attacker is rented from Seville without an option to buy.

In Amsterdam, 24-year-old Idrissi is probably the temporary successor to Quincy Promes. The Orange International is reportedly about to sign with Spartak Moscow. In Russia, unlike in the Netherlands, the transfer market is still open after Monday.

Idrissi switched from AZ to Sevilla in October for 12 million euros, but the winger barely got playing time in Spain. The seven-time international of Morocco is only three competition matches for the number three of La Liga. On Saturday he was not in the selection for the game with Eibar (0-2 win).

The transfer was completed in a short time. “I had not considered leaving Seville, but then suddenly Ajax came”, says Idrissi in a video of Ajax.

“I am very happy and honored to be able to act in this beautiful stadium and to be part of this team,” said the left winger, who hopes to close the season with awards. “We are still active on three fronts and have a good starting position. If we maintain the spirit, then I am sure that very good months are ahead.”

The attacker, born in Bergen op Zoom, played 127 Eredivisie duels for FC Groningen and AZ. He was good for 36 hits and 27 assists. Last season, he came in 42 official games for AZ to seventeen hits and ten assists.

Promes still suspected of stabbing

Promes is expected to soon exchange Ajax for Spartak Moscow. The club that recently recruited former PSV player Jorrit Hendrix will hire the 29-year-old attacker with an option to buy.

Promes is not working on a strong season at Ajax. In addition, he ran into problems off the field. The attacker spent several nights in a police cell for possible involvement in a stabbing incident. He is still a suspect in that case.

The transfer market in Russia will not close until mid-February.
