Patrick Wachel (67) will say goodbye to the Anderlecht women’s team after this season. The success coach hopes to close in beauty with a fourth national title in a row. “It was 5 fantastic years,” he says.
Anderlecht is waltzing over the female competition this season. The statistics are telling: 39 out of 39, 81 goals scored and a 9-point gap on the first pursuer.
Still, coach Patrick Wachel will say goodbye to the team after this season. “It is my last season as coach and sports director of the women’s team”, he confirmed after the 8-0 victory against Charleroi.
“I’ve had 5 fantastic years and a few more months to come, but after 2021 it will be over. A fourth title in a row and a ticket to the Champions League would be the best gift to end with.”
Wachel can look back on a great career: 4 national titles with Standard Fémina, 3 national titles with Anderlecht (and well on his way to a 4th in a row) and two cup victories with Standard.
