The timekeeper cut 73 seconds out of the third twenty-minute period, when Russia was even worse, Petman turned the result around and Finland was closer to the medal. This stop was bronze at the moment.

The bet on the game without the goalkeeper was used by the Russians two minutes before the end of the third period. But everything was different, for the second time in the match Lundell scored, passed and hit an empty goal, the winner was decided, not the result. The Russians did not give up, but again collected in a game without a goalkeeper. Pärssinen scored the fourth goal and the Finns finished third in the world championship after winning 4: 1.
