UD Ibiza 5-2 victory against Celta in Copa del Rey 2021 | Other Soccer Leagues

The beauty of playing single-game playoffs. This Tuesday the Copa del Rey signed its first big surprise: UD Ibiza, of the second B or third division, thrashed 5-2 and by default eliminated a Celta de Vigo that did not have Jeison Murillo in the starting lineup.

Sergio Castel, with a double, and Javi Pérez, put the local victory on track against a Vigo team plagued with casualties and that never knew how to adapt to the artificial turf of the Can Misses municipal stadium. Then Manu Molina scored with a penalty “a la Panenka” and Ángel Rodado.

Ibiza has made history by eliminating a Primera, as it was about to do a year ago in this same scenario after falling (1-2) to Barcelona.

Celta improved a lot in the second half with the incorporations of Santi Mina, who scored the goal, Denis Suárez and Brais Méndez, but, despite Holsgrove’s second goal, they did not have time to lift a tie that made it impossible for them in the first half .

Can Misses was a party and the 500 spectators who witnessed the game, celebrated in style a classification that was only in danger in the last minutes. Santi Mina crashed a shot off the post and missed a penalty (min. 88). They were the last actions of a tie that Ibiza fans will take many years to forget, and that Ángel Rodado closed with the fifth goal.
