The athletes Alvis Almendra and Kristine Jiménez confirmed the progress of the work

The athletes Alvis Almendra and Kristine Jiménez were part of the delegation that carried out an inspection in the work area of ​​the Eduardo Campbbell gym, located in Santiago de Veraguas.

Almendra, bronze medal in the fight at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, and judoka Jiménez, Central American and Caribbean champion and Pan American bronze medal in the 52 kilos category in Lima, 2019, accompanied the director of the Panamanian Institute de Deportes (Pandeportes), Eduardo Cerda, in order to establish the progress that the project has had, since the works were restarted in 2020.

Despite the difficult situation that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed in the country, both Almendra and Jiménez, both native athletes from the province of Veraguas, confirmed the progress of the work, which is in its last stage of construction, with 90% of its physical structure and internal adjustments completed.

The remodeling work of the Eduardo Campbell gym resumed in September 2020. It has been possible to find larger spaces for training and competition, as well as the fitting out of a sauna, bathrooms, dressing rooms and showers.

This sports facility in one of the most important in the interior of the country, housing athletes from the disciplines of weight lifting, judo, wrestling and boxing, being a hotbed of notable competitors who have raised the name of Panama and the province of Veraguas in international competitions.

Bronze medals, one each athlete won Almendra in wrestling and Jiménez in Judo.
