Tennis – DTB team against Djokovic – Sports

Alexander Zverev’s German tennis team will meet defending champion Serbia with world number one Novak Djokovic and Canada at the ATP Cup. That was the result of the draw for the four preliminary round groups on Friday. Only the winner of each group will reach the semi-finals. The ATP Cup will be played in Melbourne Park from February 1st to 5th, the week before the start of the Australian Open. The tournament, which was held for the first time last year, was won by Serbia in the final against Spain. At that time there were still 24 nations played in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney. Because of the corona pandemic, this year’s edition will take place entirely in Melbourne with twelve teams. With the exception of Roger Federer, who is still paused, all top ten players will be there at the ATP Cup. Each team will consist of four players, two singles and one doubles will be played per game. As in the previous year, Jan-Lennard Struff and the two-time French Open double winners Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies are in action for Germany, as well as the world number seven Zverev. In 2020, Germany dropped out in the preliminary round.
