Sports federations sign a manifesto for more diversity

In the coming years, the Dutch sports federations will be committed to more diversity within their sport and their organization. At the online symposium on diversity and inclusion, 26 unions signed the Diversity Charter, which they drew up together with the sports umbrella NOC * NSF. This includes football, hockey, skating, gymnastics, netball, table tennis, badminton and skiing. Chairman Marijke Fleuren of the European hockey federation EHF, who has been an advocate for more diversity in the sport for years, also signed the manifesto.

“The jointly drawn up charter is a great next step to work towards an inclusive sport where everyone is really welcome, appreciated and feels at home”, says Richard Kaper, sports participation manager at NOC * NSF. “By advocating a diversity policy, we can get started with an inclusive sport and, hopefully, achieve results quickly.”
