The 19-year-old Sesto is currently preparing for the Australian Open as Rafael Nadal’s training partner. That is why he is in Adelaide, where only the crème de la crème of the tennis scene can be found. The remaining players are based in Melbourne, 650 kilometers away.
A show tournament is scheduled for Friday in Adelaide. Sinner will meet Novak Djokovic there at 1 p.m. local time, against whom he has never played before. Incidentally, the match will be broadcast on Eurosport from 3.30 a.m. (CET). Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem will meet at 9.30 a.m. (CET). Among other things, there is the meeting between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka for women.
Official start for Seppi & Sinner next week
There are no world ranking points or prize money for Sinner & Co. at the invitation tournament called “A Day at the Drive”. Rather, it is intended as a test for the Australian Open, which begins on February 8th.
Immediately after the show tournament, Sinner will travel to Melbourne and, like Andreas Seppi, will serve at the ATP tournament “Melbourne 1” from Monday. By then at the latest, the South Tyrolean tennis stars can get down to business again.
