During the winter transition period, 20-year-old Tālbergs has supplemented “Metta” by renting a player to another Premier League club “Ventspils” for two years.
Tālbergs has spent his entire career in his native club, making his debut on July 15, 2018 in a match against “Metta”.
In total, Tālbergs has played 29 games in the Super League, ten of which have been in the past season, scoring one goal and passing it once.
In the Latvian Cup, the midfielder has four games, in the quarter-finals of the 2018 Cup against “Liepāja”, scoring the winning goal in extra time.
Also born in 2000, the footballer has played in six European League qualifiers.
Ventspils resident has also represented Latvian youth teams. In the U-17 national team, two goals were scored in seven games, including a victory goal against Moldova, as well as six battles in the Latvian U-19 national team.
“I am very happy to join Metta, because I believe that it is the best academy in Latvia and that there are all the necessary conditions for development,” the footballer comments on the transition. “From the first day, I see what kind of work the coaches are investing in the players, and it gives me the motivation to prove myself and do everything to be able to succeed on the field. All that remains is to follow the coach’s instructions and work hard.”
The newcomer is well received in the team, having previously played together with some football players in the youth teams.
The footballer hopes that the new players of the team, who have already gained a lot of experience, will work more and more successfully on the field, also making progress in the field of physical fitness.
“My goal at the club is to show my best football, as well as to fight for three points in each game,” Talberg is militant.
“Ventspils” was the fourth place in the 2020 championship with 44 points, but “Metta” won the ninth place among ten teams with 16 points.
