“From the first time we worked with Brodie, we realized that we shared a commitment to athletes, on and off the field,” Carter said in a press release.

Van Wagenen was an agent for IMG and later co-leader of CAA Baseball. The Mets hired him as general manager in October 2018 following the departure of Sandy Alderson due to health concerns due to cancer.

Van Wagenen was replaced as general manager by Jared Porter, who was hired on December 13 and fired on January 19 after ESPN reported that Porter sent unsolicited sexually explicit messages and images to a reporter in 2016 while working for the Chicago Cubs.

While Van Wagenen worked at CAA, Roc Nation and CAA formed alliances to represent some players, including Robinson Canó and Yoenis Céspedes.
