Manchester United sues creators of Football Manager for misuse of the name

O Manchester United is suing the creators of the Football Manager game for allegedly infringing its brand name using the club’s name “extensively for the game”. The information was released by the agency PA Media and published on the newspaper’s website Guardian.

According to the publication, the club took legal action against Sega Publishing and Sports Interactive for not using the team’s official logo, being replaced by a simple red and white striped emblem.

The agency also published that companies say the use of the club’s name is “a legitimate reference to the Manchester United football team in a football context” and that it has been used for years “without complaint from the claimant”.
