The Special Legacy Project Pan American and Parapan American Games promoted the reactivation of sport by making available the international venues that it manages for the return of our athletes to official competitions, in a safe and controlled manner, in infrastructures that maintain an Olympic level.

It all started last November, with the U17 Online Weightlifting World Cup. The contest was held at Sports Center 2, located in the National Sports Village (VIDENA), where a stage was set up for 11 Peruvians to compete individually, following biosecurity protocols.

The result of this event was successful: 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. Added to this is the outstanding participation of Estrella Saldarriaga, who became world champion.

The face-to-face competitions came from the hand of Judo with the Junior Pan American Cup and the Pan American Open. Both tournaments, which awarded ranking points to Cali 2021 and Tokyo 2020 respectively, they brought together international delegations, among which the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Paraguay, Ecuador, among others, stood out.

Yuta Galarreta (-90 kg), Yuliana Bolívar (+ 78 kg), Luis Ángeles Sotelo (- 81 kg), Alonso Wong (-73 kg) and Michael Patiño (-66 kg) seized the gold medals at the Open Pan-American. More competitions at home

The sports party at VIDENA was extended with the organization of the South American Adult and Youth Badminton 2020, in which Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru participated.

The perfect lighting and a first-rate infrastructure, accompanied the resounding national success, where “Team Peru” achieved a total of 68 medals. The contest was held in the imposing Sports Center 2 lasting eight days.

That was not all, in the main house of Lima 2019 The National Athletics Championship was held, which took place at the Atlético Stadium and ended only on December 20. About 200 Peruvian exponents enjoyed the event and, above all, the benefits of the sports complex that is kept in excellent condition, under the specialized maintenance of the Lima 2019 Special Legacy Project.

Oceanfront

Extreme sports were not far behind. The Costa Verde Pan-American Complex reopened its doors to host the National Speed Skating, Roller Freestyle, Skateboarding and BMX Championships.

The good conditions of the skating rink, as well as that of the skatepark and the Freestyle circuit allowed women, men, adults and adolescents to move without problems throughout their competitions.

These scenarios are unique in our country, approved by international federations and have the required certifications for high-performance athletes’ competitions.

The volleyball smiled again

The Special Legacy Project made the Villa El Salvador Sports Center available for the 2020 National Women’s Cup, where six teams competed for a month and a half.

This first-class venue was the scene of a lightning-style tournament and served for more than 80 volleyball players to return to face-to-face competitions, after the paralysis of professional activities caused by the pandemic.

Finally, 2020 says goodbye with the National Youth Championship and the Absolute National Badminton and Para-Badminton Championship 2020, held between the 26th and 30th of this month, at the VIDENA Sports Center No. 2.
