Libor Podmol about his experience from Dakar: Ah, so that’s it? Just nothing extra

The legendary “desert” race ended a few days ago. However, the experiences still resonate in the minds of some participants. Not everyone is lucky to reach the finish line, or even to survive (French motorcycle rider Pierre Cherpin died this year when he succumbed to a head injury he suffered in stage 7). Nevertheless, the competitors go for it.

Blood, sweat and tears

This year, motocrosser Libor Podmol also took part in the race and did not do badly at all. Blood, sweat and tears are already part of the equipment of everyone who decides to complete the Dakar. Even for the fighter who won the gold medal at the X-Games Extreme Sports Olympics in 2013, the first non-US rider, in the StepUP discipline.

Even for Libor, the Dakar experience was a reason to look back and balance: “The” bigger “I am, the more I realize that the path to any goal in life is the most,” he says in his instagram account.

So that’s all?

Who would expect to read in his statement a detailed description of the hard work he had to overcome at the races, or memories of extreme natural phenomena, temperature differences and technical problems, may be pleasantly surprised. “The whole Rally was a strong emotional experience,” the successful freestyle motocrosser opens this new chapter in his life experience.

Impressions from the finish line were contradictory: “When I reached the end of the rally, he shook hands with a few people, got a medal and just stared sadly at the sky. I thought, “Oh, and that’s it?” Nothing, we pack our fiddles and go home. No extra beneficial feeling. Just nothing extra, ”explains Libor Podmol.

He then continues with the main idea of the whole article: “The journey through Dakar was much stronger than its goal,” he adds, adding that fans will be able to experience the entire Dakar experience directly with him through a documentary made by people around Libor Podmol.
