It is currently assumed that the New York Jets will part ways with head coach Adam Gase after the season finale against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Sources told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Gase will be looking for a job again after only two years with the jets. The boss on the sidelines has a 9-22 record in New York.

General Manager Joe Douglas will conduct a lengthy search for the next coach on his team, according to Rapoport. The list of candidates the manager will consider includes Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bienemy, Indianapolis Colts Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus, Baltimore Ravens DC Don Martindale, Tennessee Titans OC Arthur Smith, and Los Angeles Rams Defensive Coordinator Brandon Staley.

The Jets might also consider Iowa State’s Matt Campbell and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh from the college ranks.

Gase has been heavily criticized since he took office two years ago for failing to develop Sam Darnold. New York has finished last in the NFL every year since taking office with the Offense.

The 42-year-old would likely have been fired last week if the Jets lost, Rapoport reports, but Gang Green managed a second straight win.

Douglas and Co. have the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
