Jean-Denys Choulet (Roanne): “We lack talent and skill”

The Roanne Choir returns to competition this Saturday, January 9 with the reception of Le Mans in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France at 7 p.m. at the Halle Vacheresse. Roanne coach Jean-Denys Choulet looks back on his team’s sluggish start to the season.

Before the reception of Le Mans Sarthe Basket in the Coupe de France, the coach of the Chorale de Roanne Jean-Denys Choulet spoke at the microphone of Chorale TV on the current level of his team, currently 14th in Jeep Elite (2 victories, 4 losses).

“We do interesting things. But, without being mean, we lack talent and skill in this team. Without talent and without skill in a Jeep Elite, it’s complicated. In Pro B, with heart, you can compensate for a lot of things. In Jeep Elite, if you are open and do not sanction, it is very complicated. This is what I’m trying to convey. It is imperative that we sanction when the game systems reach an open player. You can’t afford to miss open shots all the time. It is not possible.”

Since 1is January, some Roanne players are also confined to having to perform 500 shots per day. Make the effort to progress. The double champion of France also returned to the recent arrival of Jamel Artis.

“It’s a Swiss army knife that can juggle three positions, especially at station 3 and 4. This is where it can do us good. This match (against Le Mans) allows us to test Jamel. Poor guy, we put 7 game systems in his head to assimilate in a short time, in two positions. We have some players who have been there since the start of the season and who do not yet know the systems on a position. He understands quite quickly. I’m not worried.”

Finally, Jean-Denys Choulet also slipped his feelings on the uncertainty linked to the end of the season.

“Everything is a goal. Playing the next game is a goal. Playing the Coupe de France is an objective, we don’t know. We are in an incredible situation in a professional environment not knowing what to do after January 16. How can you work in these conditions? What is important is that the Choir remains in Jeep Elite next season. In case of ranking, we are not well. Now, I hope we will finish this season. In any case, what is certain is that if we go until March like that, clubs will die. I do not see how we can pay the players without financial income. ”
