Janda is clear: Rotten must end up in the agency too!

Ivana Roháčková

As one of the few sports officials, you have asked Milan Hnilička to leave not only the Chamber of Deputies since Monday’s opening of the case. Why do you insist at the end of it as the head of the agency?

We are in a state of emergency and Mr Hnilička is one of those who supported him. And a few days after he raised his hand for him, he snorts at parties and violates all government measures. And then, as the highest representative of the sport, should he stand in front of the athletes and want them to follow the measures, and even wear veils in training? How it will look like? He made a gross mistake and should bear the consequences accordingly. The fact that he laid down the parliamentary mandate is that the wolf ate and the goat remained whole.

What about the 50 thousand crowns he sent to charity?

This goes back to the Middle Ages, when indulgences were bought. If someone violates something and redeems himself out of guilt, then it is a completely inadmissible act for me.

If Hnilička does not resign, should the government revoke him?

The Act on the Promotion of Sport states that if the chairman of the National Sports Agency grossly violates his duties arising from his office, the government may dismiss him. In my opinion, there was a gross violation. On Monday, the prime minister called on Milan Hnilička to resign and said that he would wait for the sports environment to comment on this.

We go back to the time before 1989, criticizes Hnilička Hrdina. Jágr et al. they let him down

However, this has so far largely stood up for the head of the agency, and even Babiš did not insist on his departure on Tuesday evening.

Yes, some unions supported Hnilička, some were more careful. I get it. I also belong to the sports environment, but no one asked our opinion. I can only speak for myself. If someone runs an agency that manages seven billion and will manage up to eleven billion in the future, and that person has grossly violated the rules of the state of emergency, they have absolutely lost my trust.

What have you come up with in the House Subcommittee on Sport, of which you are Vice-Chairman?

It was said in the subcommittee that the sports environment was behind Hnilička, and the votes of the present members of the governing coalition and the subcommittee supported his stay in office. I was the only one who was against it, the pirate MP abstained. But let’s define what a sports environment is. Who is it? I think that’s a few million athletes. Or are they just a few sports associations?

The argument of those who defended Hniličky is the fear of destabilizing the sport, especially its financing, in which he promised to bring order. Do you share their concerns?

We have the third Minister of Health for the last year. Did it destabilize healthcare? When the Minister of Transport ended up and Minister of Industry Havlíček took it on board, did it destabilize the two ministries? Mr. Hnilička has no halo above him. There are plenty of people in this country who can replace it.

Do you see anyone who could run the agency?

This is purely the responsibility of the government, which appoints the chairman of the National Sports Agency. I will not mention any names.

To what extent do you think the fear that it will not be possible to complete the subsidy programs, which are supposed to bring millions to the unions, also play a role in supporting Hnilička?

Subsidy programs are made by officials and are always tightened by whoever is there. The chairman is in charge of directing the work of the agency. So when a person who has gone through a managerial position gets there, it can’t take him long to get used to it. When Mr. Blatný succeeded Minister Prymul, he spoke at a press conference that day and was familiar with the situation in the resort.
