Ivo Karlovic will not be at the Australian Open

We have a weekend of many news in regards to last minute cancellations of the tournaments that will take place in this start of 2021. Tennis players who are forced to choose between two events that take place on the same dates. Jannik Sinner, for example, got off Antaya to play one of the events that will be played in Melbourne before the Grand Slam. As well, Ivo Karlovic has decided to play the ATP 250 de Delray Beach before the previous phase of Open de Australia.

This means that the Croatian will cut a streak of 17 consecutive calendars playing the oceanic Grand Slam, with a 4R in 2010 being his best result. Karlovic, who will turn 42 next February, seems to have more faith in this tournament than being squeezed into a Qualy very hard where you will have fewer options to pass rounds. Or so he thinks. Hopefully he was right, although Melbourne will miss him.
