At the Archers d’Armor in January 2018, when Jérémy Dupont took the presidency of the club, he was already a referee and had announced the color by talking about becoming a coach. After ten years in the Archers with a good career in competition, he has been a referee for five years and he is a federal coach since early January 2021.
This is a new diploma and the federal process has been in preparation for ten years. “I can accompany a person throughout his archer’s life: from the novice to the French championships”. The diploma is prepared on three axes: posture level 1, placement (levels 1 – 2 and 3) and movement (levels 2 and 3) and level by level.
Jérémy Dupont remains a volunteer and can train a maximum of eight people per session. “For follow-up, each archer has their own program, depending on their age, even if they advance together”.
His training began in October 2019, but with covid-19, everything was turned upside down. “I really enjoyed all the work that has been done: learning the process, mental preparation, managing a group. In fact, we reviewed archery as if we knew nothing which allows us to question ourselves a lot ”.
A video exam
The exams, initially scheduled for April 11, 2020, were postponed to November 2020. But with the second confinement, it took place on December 4 by video. “On the other side of the screen, there were two people from the jury and Pierrick Le Parc, senior technical director of the Regional Committee. The interview lasted an hour ”. But Jérémy had to wait four weeks before having the results. “There were 12 of us, I don’t know how many got it”. Very proud that it is already registered on his license, Jérémy cannot pass it on to members.
“We are living through a catastrophic year for sport. From 54 registered in early 2020, there are 22 members and no one can train ”. He and the members of the board cling to the idea of organizing the Brittany Outdoor Championship in June 2021. “The Regional Committee approved our project. Over two days, around 300 archers would be present. We hope that by then, we will be able to welcome the public ”. This could represent a great showcase for the club, good communication on a sport of excellence.
