The Korean badminton national team will compete in an international competition in 10 months.

The national team, led by new coach Kim Choong-hoe, left the country on the 2nd for the World Badminton Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 1000 Thailand Open held in Bangkok, Thailand on the 12th. It is an international competition in about 10 months since the film opening in March last year.

The badminton international competition has not been held due to Corona 19 so far. The tournament was canceled or postponed after the film opening.

In the midst of this, the Thailand Open will be unfolded under thorough quarantine guidelines such as frequent corona 19 inspections for players and officials. The national team left for Bangkok on the 2nd after being tested for Corona 19.

First, the national team consisted of women’s singles Seong Ji-hyun (Incheon International Airport), Ahn Se-young, Kim Ga-eun (above Samsung Life), men’s singles Heo Gwang-hee (Samsung Life), men’s singles Choi Sol-gyu (Yonex)-Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life), and women’s doubles Kim So-young (Incheon International Airport) )-Gong Hee-yong (Jeonbuk Bank), Jang Ye-na (Gimcheon City Hall)-Kim Hye-rin (Incheon International Airport), Lee So-hee (Incheon International Airport)-Shin Seung-chan (Incheon International Airport) departed. These players were automatically selected to the top of the world rankings without a representative selection.

Here, men’s doubles Lee Yong-dae (Yonex)-Kim Ki-jeong (Dangjin City Hall), Go Seong-hyeon (Gimcheon City Hall)-Shin Baek-cheol (Incheon International Airport) will also be exhibiting. Ko Seong-hyun also goes on to mixed doubles with Eom Hye-won (Gimcheon City Hall).

Most of the top players such as Gento Momota (Japan), the world’s No. 1 men’s singles, will participate in this Thailand Open. Afterwards, the 2020 BWF World Tour Final will be held at the same location from 27 to 31.

The 2021 national team selection will be held this month. The Korean Badminton Association plans to hold the representative selection, canceled last month due to Corona 19, in Muju, Jeollabuk-do on the 18th to 23rd.
