Football: ManUnited is bottom of the league

Soccer

Sheffield United caused a big surprise in the English Premier League on Wednesday. The battered bottom and relegation candidate number one let record champions Manchester United slip 2-1 (1-0) at Old Trafford. “Joker” Oliver Burke caused a bang in the fight for the title with the winning goal around a quarter of an hour before the final whistle.

Kean Bryan shot the blatant Sheffield underdog in the lead in the 23rd minute. Harry Maguire was able to equalize for the favorite in the second half (64th), but four minutes after being substituted on, Burke made the second goal in the 74th minute with the guests – and like Bryan with his first in the Premier League the biggest sensation of the current season so far. For Sheffield, the 2-1 win at Old Trafford was only their second win after defeating Newcastle 15 days ago and, in addition to two draws, only fourth points. There are 16 defeats.

Manchester United, on the other hand, only lost out for the fourth time and also missed the leap back to the top with the “belly spot” against the straggler. The “Red Devils” are with one game less, now one point behind local rivals Manchester City, who were harmed on Tuesday at West Bromwich Albion with a 5-0 shooting match, in second place.

The Sheffield United kickers were only able to enjoy a feeling of success for the second time this season

Leicester City missed a place behind Manchester United with a 1: 1 (0: 1) at Everton to benefit from United’s mistake. The “Foxes” are missing a counter on the record champions. Ex-ÖFB captain Christian Fuchs was not in the squad at Leicester. The 20th round will end on Wednesday with the hit between Tottenham Hotspur and defending champions Liverpool FC.

Tuchel starts with a zero number

The premiere of Thomas Tuchel as coach of Chelsea, however, ended without success. The German had to be content with a point on his debut with the “Blues” with a goalless draw at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Chelsea had more possession against the “Wolves” and also determined the events. However, the guests made it difficult for the Londoners to get dangerously in front of the gate. Wolverhampton only occasionally managed dangerous counterattacks. In the “Blues”, the substitute strikers Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham did not achieve the goal they wanted.

Tuchel’s first appearance on the Chelsea sideline did not bring a win, but at least a point

Despite the draw, Tuchel was satisfied with his debut. “That gives me a good feeling for the future,” he said after the game on the BBC. “I did not expect that we would be at this level after one training session and two meetings.” Chelsea remain in eighth place with the 0-0 in the table. The next opponent is Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. A few days later, former PSG coach Tuchel is visiting Tottenham for the London derby under former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho.
