FC Bayern: This is how Robert Lewandowski planned his promotion to world footballer – FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN

It was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Robert Lewandowski (32) had already set himself a goal in his youth in Warsaw, which he now achieved:

WORLD FOOTBALLER!

After the star striker received the trophy from the hands of Fifa President Gianni Infantino (50) on Säbener Strasse, he drove to his villa in Bogenhausen, took off his noble patent leather shoes and lay down on the couch with the trophy. It was a picture of perfect bliss. Since I met Lewandowski in the summer of 2014, his goal has been to be the best. The best in the Bundesliga, the best in Europe, the best in the world. And he does everything for it every day, works like a man possessed. It was only logical that he ended 2020 for FCB with two goals in Leverkusen.

There is his own fitness room in his house. His wife Anna cooks healthy food for Lewandowski when she travels. When I met him one night in Munich, his buddies were drinking vodka. And he: still water. In 2019 we flew back to Munich after receiving the SPORT BILD award. There was candy, M & Ms. I offered it to Lewandowski, he: naturally declined.

The center forward steers his body, for which the description “Adonis-like” is almost an understatement. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is amazed: He has never seen such a defined body in his entire career. That’s why Lewandowski is never injured.

“I have set the bar high – but I want to exceed them and get even better,” Lewandowski told me at the end of 2019 when he finished eighth in the “Ballon d’Or” election. In just one year, he managed to do this impressively. He won every title there is! Even Lewandowski’s role model from childhood, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, congratulated himself personally: “You even beat the monsters Messi and Ronaldo!”

In 2018 Lewandowski wanted to leave Bayern, his then new star advisor Pini Zahavi told me: “Robert feels that he needs a change and a new challenge in his career.” That caused a huge stir. In the end, he had to accept that the Bayern bosses wouldn’t let him go. We sat together in a café in Munich, he clearly stated what he didn’t like in Munich, admitted: “I was thinking of parting.”

From today’s point of view, it was the starting signal for the following success – which was even greater than anything it had already achieved. Bayern and Lewandowski got together.

I was allowed to visit Lewandowski in his homeland, he was already omnipresent at Warsaw Airport: He is an advertising and national hero who even sells his own coffee (RL9 Coffee, around 16 euros / kilo). But: Even as a world star, the ex-BVB professional never took off: In Warsaw he organized that I could sleep in the same hotel as the Polish national team, and on the evening of my arrival asked whether everything had gone well. Optimize everything. That also applies to his career. In order to become the best player in the world, he even researched his own sleep rhythm. Light sources in the bedroom – especially those that emit blue light – are now an absolute taboo. Lewandowski also had his true biological age estimated. According to him, this moves between 25 and 28: The world footballer still has a lot to do.
