Derek Alfred AUCOIN | Goyer Funeral Homes

1970-2020

At his home, alongside his angel Isabelle and surrounded by love, on December 26, 2020, passed away Mr. Derek Alfred Aucoin. He is survived by his wife Isabelle Rochefort and his adored son Dawson Paul Aucoin. He also leaves his mother April Cockle, his father Raymond Aucoin, his brother Raymond Christian (Ekaterina), his step-mother Micheline “Mimi” Isabelle, his brother-in-law André (Mélanie) and many other relatives and friends.

A man of heart, with even greater generosity than the giant he was, Derek left a deep mark on everyone he came across. Professional baseball player who played for the Montreal Expos, director of the Manhattan Baseball Center, speaker, radio host at 98.5FM, sports analyst for TVA Sports, Derek has gravitated his life in the world of baseball, but his impact has been much further than sport. Inducted into the Quebec Baseball Hall of Fame, first Quebec member of the board of directors of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and recipient of the Medal of the National Assembly of Quebec, Derek used the red stitched ball as a pretext for pass on to us his passion for life, with his characteristic smile and enthusiasm while always helping the smallest and most fragile. Derek has been a great dad, an amazing husband and a boundless source of inspiration. May his memory remain in our hearts and may his words resonate with us so that in his image we will always walk forward with our heads held high.

The family would like to thank in particular Dr Jean-Paul Bahary, Dr Sarah Lapointe, the staff of the CHUM and the society of palliative home care of Greater Montreal.

Due to the circumstances, funeral rituals will take place in the privacy of the family.
