Benitez quits his coaching position in China | Foreign football

Rafael Benitez has left his post as coach of Dalian, the Chinese first division team (CSL) he had been in charge of since 2019, for family reasons linked to the new coronavirus.




“Unfortunately, like so many things last year, the Covid-19 has changed our lives and our plans. From today my staff and I will unfortunately no longer train Dalian Professional FC,” said on Saturday. on his blog the 60-year-old Spaniard.

“The pandemic is still there for everyone and the support for our families is the main reason for this decision”, added the former winner of the Champions League with Liverpool (2005), without giving more details on the causes of his departure.

After having coached some of the biggest clubs in Europe, such as Inter Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid, Benitez signed for Dalian, where Yannick Carrasco played, in July 2019 from Newcastle.
