Beaten at home by Burnley in the Premier League, Liverpool get bogged down

Liverpool conceded Thursday against Burnley (0-1) their third loss of the season in the Premier League, the first at home in the Championship in almost four years (Crystal Palace, 1-2, April 23, 2017). It is above all the fifth game in a row without a win for Jürgen Klopp’s team in the Championship, which has not won in this competition since December 19 at Crystal Palace (7-0).

Midway through the championship, the Reds are now relegated to six points behind the leader, Manchester United, but also four behind Manchester City (2nd) and Leicester (3rd). Tottenham and Everton, who are one and two games late respectively, could even overtake the Reds in the standings.

Liverpool therefore lost at Anfield against the 16th in the Premier League who resisted before taking advantage of a defensive approximation and a fault by Alisson in his area on Ashley Barnes, who himself transformed the penalty (83rd ).

However, Liverpool had had opportunities to have a better evening, especially when Divock Origi, taking advantage of a bad pass back from Ben Mee, appeared alone against Nick Pope. But the strike of the Belgian had crashed on the bar (43rd). The Burnley goalkeeper then managed a superb parade (60th) on a strike from Mohamed Salah, replacing at the kick-off like Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian missed the frame (72nd), before seeing his recovery from close range by an opposing defender (89th).
