A dramatic road accident occurred this Sunday, January 3 on a highway in Markina-Xemei, in the Basque Country, in Spain. A Peugeot 307 struck a bus, leaving the driver of the car lifeless. The motorist in question is the Spanish footballer Aitor Gandiaga Gerrikagoitia. He was 23 years old.
The young man was playing in Gernika, in Spanish D3. His club and the National Federation pay tribute to him on social networks. “The Royal Spanish Football Federation would like to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Aitor Gandiaga Gerrikagoitia, footballer for Gernika Club, who died this afternoon in a traffic accident at the age of 23. Rest in peace, ”writes the RFEF.
