“My friends and I have such a tradition that we go to football every year for Christmas. I’m always good there, I’m always really good there, so I took it similarly against Antalya. I’m glad we won and I contributed to that goal,” describes Skoda.
“It will definitely be one of the most beautiful football gifts for Christmas, because something like this has never happened to me before that I would play a match on Christmas Day. At the same time, I hope it was the last time,” wishes the 34-year-old native of Prague.
He didn’t have time for Christmas yet. “We were at the hotel the day before the match, so there was no room for that. The match was not played until seven in the evening, so there was no chance even on Christmas Day, because the children were already asleep when I came. We won’t have Christmas until today. I’m looking forward to it and we will enjoy it, “says the former player Bohemians 1905 or Slavia.
It was from Eden that he headed to Turkey for his first foreign engagement in January. “If I evaluate the year 2020 only from a football point of view, then I don’t think it was completely bad. I scored ten goals in the spring, unfortunately we played in the last round for rescue. But we saved ourselves, that was important,” says the triple Czech master with Slavia.
“I dropped out of the line-up in the autumn and I didn’t start much. I was disappointed and it bothered me a lot. But now I’ve played some matches again, so it’s getting better,” recapitulates Skoda, who scored in the third league match in a row .
He does not give up hope for the start of the summer European championship. “I’ve always been in a wider nomination, so of course there may be a chance. The more goals I score, the better the chances will be. They’ll see. Now Coach Šilhavý has no shortage of attackers. and author of four national team goals in 19 matches.
In the new year, he wants to be beneficial to Rizespor, which is the twelfth of 21 teams in the table. “I mainly want to play, score goals and be as successful as possible to try to get as high as possible. My contract ends in the summer, so we’ll see what happens next. I can’t say that at all,” the Czech legionary shrugs.
“I’m not inclined to extend here, because I didn’t record much in the fall and only played because one of the attackers was injured. I also know that the family would be better at home,” Skoda says.
However, he would not resist his engagement in another Turkish team. “But I would have to feel that the family will be satisfied there and that I will be given more space,” says a pupil of the Prague “Čafka”.
On the football side, he does not complain about working in Turkey. “I like it here, the competition is great, high quality, prestigious and terribly watched. I enjoy it here, but my wife and I feel like we don’t live our lives here at all. We’ve been in Prague all our lives together. We have family there, friends. “I would like to stay here, but it’s hard. The question is whether it can be combined,” Skoda muses.
