Trippier suspended ten weeks for breaking gambling rules

Atlético de Madrid footballer Kieran Trippier has been suspended for ten weeks without being able to participate in soccer-related activities, such as playing and training, for breaking the betting rules established by the English Football Federation (FA).

The English side has also received a fine of 70,000 pounds (77,000 euros) and may appeal the decision after denying having participated in this activity, which occurred in July 2019, and having profited from it, as well as anyone around him. .

An independent commission reviewed the case and, after a personal hearing, with the footballer, they claimed that four of the accusations were true and three were not. The player was charged for gambling on his transfer, from Tottenham Hotspur to Atlético de Madrid in the summer of 2019, something that the FA regulations strongly prohibit.

The suspension, which will prevent To Trippier to play, it is effective as of this Wednesday, December 23, after having sent a request to FIFA. Trippier will be lost 14 matches with Atlético, including the first leg of the knockout round of the Champions League against him Chelsea, and will be able to play again on March 1, 2021.
