‘Another corner. I’m not too worried about this corner, ”Sherwood went on.

“I mean it might come back to bite me here but I think Tottenham is dominant [sic] in the air there.

“I’m not sure anyone can get their heads on the first ball for Liverpool … other than this one.”

Firmino then soared highest to score a header that won the match, leaving Sherwood’s experts like Robbie Savage in giggles.

Firmino’s header sparked wild scenes at Anfield as defending champions Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win.

Liverpool have 28 points while Spurs is second with 25 points and both teams have played 13 games. Southampton and Leicester are both on 24 points.

Mohamed Salah had given Liverpool the lead before Son Heung-min scored for Spurs in the 33rd minute, and while the home side dominated the visitors had the best chance after the break.

But Firmino’s goal secured Jürgen Klopp’s side a win, leaving Jose Mourinho empty-handed. The Spurs manager felt that his team deserved all three points.

“I told him (Klopp) that the best team lost and he disagreed, but that’s his opinion,” said Mourinho.

“So close to the win but we missed the chances, we had the chances, we had the game under control, a draw would be a bad result. So you can imagine how we feel if we lose,” he said.

“A good game against an opposing monster that we played incredibly well,” said Klopp.

“Yes, they scored one goal, had two chances, otherwise we controlled the game and it’s a massive three points earned and I’m happy,” he added.
