The red … and blue thread

There is an invisible thread that binds San Lorenzo -to his performance, to his illusion- with the name Romero. Relying an entire performance on the talent of two players who are above the average of the highly devalued Argentine soccer has a cost: in those (few) afternoons / nights in which they do not combine the team it is difficult for him to prevail.

And then, the lack of filming of Di Santo weighs much more. And then you miss Donatti and Peruzzi a lot. Then, a wrong cue leads to a disorderly setback as in 1-0 (Salazar paid). So a postponement distraction on a counter free throw ends at 2-0. So, not even with Monetti showing off two difficult balls – one, redeeming himself for his own failure – can avoid being at a disadvantage. And it is lost, then. And every point that remains on the road in this phase, in which only one in six qualifies for the final, is very expensive.

It is somehow necessary, or at least healthy, that the imaginary thread is multiplied to other playmakers. That there are collective alternatives to that plant that guarantees football in 80% of the matches: In a short tournament, that remaining 20% can hurt you much more. Redouble the weight with an always crisp Alex Díaz, add Piatti to the circuit, retake the ownership of Peralta Bauer, some variants. So that this stumbling block serves, at least, as a teaching.
