The humiliating stat that Donovan Mitchell and Westbrook largely dominate

Jazz is doing quite well at the start of the season, largely thanks to a huge Rudy Gobert, boosted by his extension, and thanks to a Mike Conley found. On the other hand for Donovan Mitchell, the machine is more difficult to start. The proof in one overwhelming number.

The Jazz are in good shape at the start of the season, with two wins to one loss against the Timberwolves by a great D’Angelo Russell and a very surprising Anthony Edwards. But aside from this excusable misstep, the Salt Lake City players are pretty convincing.

After his extension, which made him the highest paid interior of all time, Rudy Gobert is not resting on his laurels. He is indeed on the basis of his best career season, with an average of 16.7 points, but also 14.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 against! The sample is small, but the promises are already good.

On the other hand, there is a player for whom things are a little more complicated: Donovan Mitchell. The offensive leader of the franchise struggles to adjust the sights, which is all the more surprising since he had left the bubble on several boxes. This season, he is even the leader in a humiliating category for a player of his standing…

Indeed, Spida is one of the players who have attempted more shots this season than they scored… And we are not talking about a few attempts here. In 3 games, Donovan Mitchell took 62 shots. A high figure but logical given its status as a franchise player. Where the shoe pinch is that he only scored 61 points, including 13 free throws!

If we remove these 13 points offered by the defense, the rear of the Jazz is 48 points in 62 shots, a figure unworthy of an All-Star of his level. By way of comparison, Rudy Gobert is at 50 points in 28 attempts…. But let Spida be reassured, he is not the only one to be in trouble with his shot. Here is the full list of players in his case. There is unfortunately a French.

  • Donovan Mitchell (62 tirs – 61 points)
  • Russell Westbrook (58 tirs – 57 points)
  • Devonte’ Graham (44 tirs – 37 points)
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. (50 tirs – 31 points)
  • LaMarcus Aldridge (38 tirs – 36 points)
  • Eric Bledsoe (38 tirs – 37 points)
  • Killian Hayes (29 tirs – 20 points)

Unlike the other players, Donovan Mitchell’s lackluster performance has no impact on Jazz results, and fortunately. This shows the collective strength of Utah.
