The Eagles’ choice pays off

The Philadelphia Eagles put their trust in young quarterback Jalen Hurts and surprised the New Orleans Saints 24-21 on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

The first-year pivot was preferred over Carson Wentz, who is having a very difficult 2020 season.

The one who was chosen in the second round (53rd overall) of the last NFL draft was therefore starting a first game in the circuit. Hurts completed 17 of his 30 attempted passes for 167 yards and a touchdown.

Alshon Jeffery was his target in the end zone, while the two other Eagles majors (4-8-1) were scored by Miles Sanders.

The running back was very good, having amassed 115 yards on 14 carries.

As for them, the Saints (10-3) were not able to register for the mark before the second half. They almost made the comeback, but eventually ran out of time.

It was a first setback for quarterback Taysom Hill since taking over from injured Drew Brees behind center.

Against the Eagles, he had 28 of his 38 stints for 291 yards and two touchdowns. Alvin Kamara has also reached the pay zone for the losers.

Washington takes the first row

At Phoenix University Stadium, the Washington football team captured the top spot in their section, beating the San Francisco 49ers 23-15.

The club from the American capital now has a 6-7 record, which puts it atop the East of the National, where no team has a winning record.

Against the 49ers (5-8), it was Washington’s defense that made the difference, she who scored two touchdowns. These are also the only two major winners in this duel. Chase Young and Kamren Curl were the authors.

Washington’s other points came from the leg of Dustin Hopkins, who had three field goals.

Washington lost the services of quarterback Alex Smith, however, with a leg injury. He had been forced to miss the entire 2019 campaign, after suffering a terrible leg injury in November 2018.

As for the San Francisco team, they have suffered a fifth loss in their last six games.

Jonathan Taylor has fun

At Allegiant Stadium, Indianapolis Colts backer Jonathan Taylor had the best game of his career as his roster defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 44-27.

The freshman ran the ball 20 times, amassing 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two throws for 15 yards.

It was receiver TY Hilton who registered the Colts’ other two offensive majors (9-4). The veteran caught five throws for 86 yards.

Marauder Khari Willis was also involved in the scoring, he who brought in an interception on 50 yards for the touchdown.

For the Raiders (7-6), quarterback Derek Carr threw for more than 300 yards and found two of his sidekicks in the pay zone, but he was also the victim of two thefts.

A head falls among the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther on Sunday.

That’s what the club announced, hours after being dominated by the Indianapolis Colts.

In their last four outings, the Raiders have allowed their rivals 37.5 points per game on average.

The team’s defensive line coach, Rod Marinelli, will act as interim defensive coordinator until the end of this campaign.

Guenther had been with the Raiders since 2018, having served in the same role with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2014 to 2017.

This season, the Nevada team have maintained a 7-6 record, which places them second in the West Division of the American League.

The Raiders will play their next clash on Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In short

At Lumen Field, the Seattle Seahawks pulverized the poor New York Jets 40 to 3. Remember that the formation of the Big Apple has still not known the happiness of victory in 13 outings this season.

At SoFi Stadium, kicker Michael Badgley put in a 43-yard field goal in the dying moments to give the Los Angeles Chargers a 20-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

At Ford Field, Aaron Rodgers threw three six-point assists and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Detroit Lions 31-24.
