Steinberg’s successful performance does not save Galatasaray from loss in Turkish superclub duel

Galatasaray conceded to Istanbul’s Fenerbahce team with a score of 60:74 (8:35, 16:12, 21:12, 15:15) on their field in the duel of two Turkish grandiques, leaving Kristine Vitola out of the application.

Steinberg spent 34 minutes and 49 seconds on the pitch in that match, during which eight of the 16 two-point shots and all three free throws were sent to the basket, but they did not hit four long shots.

She also won three rebounds, made four mistakes, broke the rules twice, provoked seven notes and scored six efficiency points. The Latvian, as the only housewife, finished the match with a positive +/- indicator (+1).

Steinberg was the most productive among the housewives with 19 points, but Kail Macbray stood out with the 25 points.

Meanwhile, Vītola is no longer on the Fenerbahce roster for local championships. In the Turkish championship, each team can apply for six players with a foreign license, but recently Alina Yagupova from Ukraine returned to the team. The limit does not apply to the FIBA Euroleague, where Vītola will be able to play.

The leader of the tournament with 14 wins in 14 games is “Fenerbahce”, but the second place with 12 successes is taken by “Galatasaray”.

Paula Strautmane, on the other hand, scored six points in the Hungarian championship match on Wednesday, in which her representative Pecs “Pecs” defeated Zalaegeršega ZTE NKK with the result 82:56 (25:17, 19:12, 18: 9, 20:18).

Strautmane played 25 minutes and 17 seconds, took two of the six long shots, but did not hit all three two-point shots. She also won two rebounds, scored three times, intercepted one ball, made two mistakes, broke three times and scored four efficiency points.

“Pecs” takes sixth place in the tournament table with six wins in 11 games.

Meanwhile, Laura Meldere scored four points in the Italian A-series match on Wednesday, beating her “Umana Reyer” at Venice 90:69 (24:11, 28:16, 24:16, 14:26) in Bologna’s “Virtus Segafredo”.

Meldere played nine minutes and 13 seconds, during which he took two of the three two-point shots, won one rebound and once broke the rules.

The Venice club has won all 12 games this season and takes first place in the A series.
