Shaq reveals how LeBron can overtake Jordan in race for GOAT

Still considered by a majority of fans as a simple contender for GOAT status, LeBron James will nevertheless be able to remove Michael Jordan from his throne according to Shaquille O’Neal. This is thanks to two accomplishments.

Who says new season, says new opportunity for LeBron James to come and thicken his candidacy for the position of best player in the history of the NBA. After adding a nice line to his CV with his 4th career title, the King hopes he will have as much, if not more success this year.

Logically already considered by his fans as the GOAT, he has yet to make this idea obvious to the majority of observers. How to achieve this, and take the place of Michael Jordan in people’s minds? Shaquille O’Neal has his idea, and made it public in the “All Things Covered” podcast of CBS Sports.

I think LeBron James is looking to get back to Kobe and Jordan’s level at league title level. If he does get to catch up with Mike, I think maybe people will start to lean a bit more towards him when it comes to the debate over who has been the best player in history.

With just one coronation behind the Mamba, LeBron has a solid chance to match the mark of his late old friend. To do the same with Jordan, he will have to show great longevity, and hope that the Lakers will stay at the top of the food chain for the seasons to come. But it can also feed other objectives, including one targeted by the Shaq ‘.

He’s already passed Kobe and Jordan in points, and he’ll soon be back on Kareem’s heels (Abdul-Jabbar). I think he will also try to pass Kareem in this ranking.

With 34,332 units on the clock, LBJ “is only” 4,055 points from the record total accumulated by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his career.

To exceed this mark, the star of the Lakers will have to turn at more than 27 points on average until 2022, or at about 17.5 points until his 38 years. Stats that do not seem so crazy when you know the character, and which would allow him to strike a big blow in the race for the status of GOAT.

Win 2 new titles, and surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in a legendary ranking: this is the recipe that should allow LeBron James to obtain the title of GOAT according to Shaquille O’Neal. A toughest program, even for the Chosen One.
