Samková will lose the World Cup and the Olympic general

While Ledecká tried the area prepared for the 2022 Winter Olympics last February during the World Cup race, Samková has not yet got there. At a pre-season press conference, the Sochi Olympic champion and Pyongyang bronze medalist stressed the importance of racing on the upcoming Olympic track not only for her, but for the entire team. “The servicemen will try the snow, the conditions,” she said at the time.

Now he hopes to be able to defend the title elsewhere. “I believe that the federation will be able to find a replacement organizer. The World Cup is one of the key races a year before the Olympics,” she said on Facebook.

They canceled the race, in which Ledecká shone repeatedly

Coach Marek Jelínek also considered the pre-Olympic test to be essential. “I can’t imagine going to the most important race in four years, where we have never been, and giving a quality performance there,” he said.

In the 2020/21 season, however, the Olympic general will not take place in China. “It’s annoying, but we take the situation as it is. We will do our best to prepare for the Olympic Games on other tracks. It’s not ideal, but we have to deal with it,” Jelínek responded.

The FIS is currently looking for ways to enable test races at various levels later, at least in some disciplines.

The World Snowboarding Championships has joined a long line of international sporting events that have been canceled in China. The last time was the Ski World Cups, which were also to be a test for the Beijing Olympics. The downhill skiers were to race in Yenching in February, the jumpers, runners and allies were to start in Beijing. In the case of runners, it was supposed to be the series finale in March.

China imposes a strict two-week quarantine on all foreign visitors, which is incompatible with holding large sporting events. These measures are likely to continue in the coming months. “We hoped it would be possible to hold test races in China this season. But the current second wave of covid-19 has led to very tough travel restrictions that make international competitions virtually impossible,” FIS President Gian Franco Kasper said in a press release.
