Paris Saint-Germain will face FC Barcelona in the round of 16 of the European Football Club Cup (Champions League). Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will therefore face FC Barcelona (Barça), almost four years after the comeback that had made PSG the laughing stock of world football. The French club beat Barça 4-0 in the round of 16 first leg of the European Club Cup (UEFA Champions League), before losing 1-6 in the second leg.
In February and March 2021, the two teams will challenge each other at the same stage of the competition. Of course, water has flowed under the bridges and the lackluster Barça of this season does not have much to do with that of a few years ago even if it still counts the Argentine striker Lionel Messi in its ranks.
Rather unbalanced round of 16
This Barça-PSG is in any case the most undecided round of 16 figure for this 2020-2021 Champions League. Most of the favorites have indeed been spared by the draw, made on December 14, 2020.
Bayern Munich, winner of the previous edition against the Parisians, will play against Lazio Rome for example. As for the most successful team in the history of the Champions League, Real Madrid, they will find Atalanta Bergamo on the road to the quarter-finals.
